Teaching children, youth, adults and employees everything from maths to appropriate occupational health and safety standards can be tiresome. Tracking progress, writing reports and developing personalised curriculums even more so. Here are some awesome Australian-based educational technology (also known as EdTech or EduTech) startups that are devoted to the development and application of products and services intended to promote education and make things easier for both teachers and students.

Code Like a Girl

Code Like a Girl is a social enterprise providing girls and women with the confidence, tools, knowledge and support to enter, and flourish, in the world of coding.  Coding is one of the most important and in-demand skills to have and there is a significant talent drought to meet the demand in the industry. Women account for less than one fifth of the IT workforce in Australia. Culture, stereotypes and unconscious bias all play a role in this shortage of women in the industry. Code Like a Girl wants to help more women and girls feel inspired to get into coding and be more involved in the creation and development of tech, because they know groups with greater diversity solve complex problems better and faster.

40K Plus

40K has been running for a few years, initially as 40K Globe, which endeavoured to inspire a new generation of social entrepreneurs through immersive learning experiences in India and now as 40K Plus, which aims to provide access to learning in restricted environments round the world. Their propriety technology system allows 40K to push content into villages through tablets and pull data back, entirely offline. They are currently using this piece of technology to help educate 3,000 children in India and Cambodia.

myEdOnline

myEd is designed to personalise learning, giving teachers the platform to help their students reach their full potential. Classrooms are full of diverse students and often the same content is rolled out to all students, irrespective of their personal journey. myEd creates tailored strategies for each school they work with, building platforms to monitor, maintain and deliver content to all students, regardless of their level.

Machinam
